Skin Rejuvenation Q & A

What is skin rejuvenation?

Skin rejuvenation is a cosmetic treatment aimed at improving the appearance and health of your skin. Whether from too much time in the sun, the general effects of aging, or your genetics, your skin tone and texture may not be quite what you want.

At DERMABARE, we offer advanced laser skin rejuvenation treatments that work to improve the overall look and feel of your skin. Each session is tailored to your skin’s needs to help refresh and renew your skin from the inside out.

The Stellar M22™ device is designed to deliver safe, exceptional
results for all skin types and ages. This versatile system combines technologies to treat a wide range of skin concerns.

The Stellar M22™ is equipped with IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) that targets pigmentation, redness, and sun damage to improve skin tone and clarity. As well as the ResurFX™ which is a fractional laser treatment that stimulates collagen production to smooth fine lines, improve texture, and enhance overall skin quality. Together, these treatments help achieve brighter, healthier-looking skin with minimal downtime.

Stellar™ IPL

Stellar-IPL

What Is IPL?

Intense Pulsed Light (abbreviated IPL) describes the use of intense pulses of non-coherent light distributed over a range of wavelengths; from 400nm to 1200nm. The technology utilizes specific wavelength ranges to target various chromophores in the skin. This enables effective treatment of a broad spectrum of conditions, including vascular and pigmented lesions and skin photoaging treatments.

How Does IPL Works?

Broad spectrum pulsed light is transmitted through a continuously cooled applicator, gently placed over the skin. Cut-off filters in the handpiece change the range of wavelengths, optimizing it for different applications and skin types. The light penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by either the relevant chromophores and damages them (blood chromophores when treating vascular lesions and melanin chromophores when treating pigmented lesions).  The body’s natural processes then clear the lesion debris, giving the skin a more even and youthful appearance.

The Lumenis IPL Solution

Lumenis offers a unique IPL solution with optimal efficacy, safety and ease of use.

  • Optimal Pulse Technology (OPT™) gives users the ability to control the pulse shape. It provides reproducible results as well as gentler, more comfortable treatments.
  • Universal handpiece with nine Expert Filters, enables treatment of a myriad of conditions with a single, versatile handpiece.

ResurFX™

ResurFX

Perform true fractional non-ablative laser skin resurfacing in just one pass, saving time and protecting patients’ skin and comfort.

What Are Non Ablative Lasers?

A non-ablative laser generates beams of coherent light using a very narrow range of wavelengths. The light beams selectively target and heat the water chromophore in the skin. As a result the temperature of the tissue rises which stimulates neocollagenesis.

There are various forms of non-ablative lasers and they typically have a good water absorption mechanism that impacts the water chromophores but does not cause ablation. Fiber lasers are commonly used for non-ablative treatments. A fiber laser is an optical fiber that is designed to generate a laser beam at the desired wavelength.

How Does A Non Ablative Laser Work?

The non-ablative laser uses a wavelength that does not cause the water in the tissue to evaporate (ablate) but rather the laser energy heats the tissue in a controlled manner. The rise in temperature stimulates neocollagenesis, a process in which new collagen is produced by the body. Collagen is a fibrous protein that is responsible for giving the skin its elasticity and suppleness.

By producing new collagen the skin regains is youthful appearance. Since the treatment does not involve tissue evaporation or ablation, treatment downtime is significantly reduced, which is also why it is preferred over ablative treatments by many patients.

The Lumenis Non Ablative Solution

The ResurFX™ laser is the only true fractional non-ablative technology. Unlike other fractional technologies, ResurFX™ only needs one pass to be effective, saving time and protecting the patient’s skin. ResurFX™ uses a 1565nm fiber laser and an advanced scanner, which enables the user to choose from more than 600 combinations of shape, size and density options, for optimal treatment results.

The ResurFX™ has state-of-the-art CoolScan™ scanner for non-sequential scanning. The CoolScan™ scanner uses a proprietary algorithm that controls the placement of each fractional spot. This protects the tissue from heat accumulation and overheating. Moreover, the ResurFX™ handpiece is equipped with continuous contact cooling to increase patient comfort during treatment.

STELLAR M22 USER EXPERIENCE

The Alma™ Harmony XL advanced laser tool at DERMABARE is equipped with an Advanced Fluorescent Technology (AFT) and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) applicator that directs short, concentrated pulsating beams of light at your skin to remove the damage layer by layer.

The Alma™ laser rejuvenation system is also equipped with ClearLift™, which is a high-speed roller used for non-ablative skin resurfacing, which means it doesn’t damage the surface of your skin, so there’s no downtime, as well as a Pixel laser for deeper anti-aging treatments.

ClearLift™

ClearLift uses non-ablative laser technology

There are two types of laser technology used in skin resurfacing procedures: ablative and nonablative. Ablative lasers remove layers of skin, and are sometimes called wounding lasers. Nonablative lasers, such as ClearLift, stimulate collagen production and tighten the skin without wounding.

The laser delivers heat energy beneath your skin in tiny columns called microthermal treatment zones. Some old cells are eliminated and collagen production is heightened, but the outer surface layer of your skin, called the epidermis, is unaffected. ClearLift treatments are extremely precise.

It’s called the “lunch break facelift”

In addition to its ability to lessen the appearance of wrinkles, one of the most appealing aspects of ClearLift is the fact that it’s fast — hence the nickname “the lunch break facelift.” Although it’s not an actual facelift, in most cases ClearLift does take less than an hour, and it does deliver exceptional results. Usually, a ClearLift treatment takes 20-25 minutes.

It’s not a traditional facelift, because that’s generally a surgical procedure that involves pulling your skin and the underlying musculature tighter. Skin resurfacing with a ClearLift treatment involves using laser energy to treat the deeper layers of skin to stimulate new growth and rejuvenation.

Less discomfort

Many cosmetic procedures involve a certain amount of discomfort. For example, a chemical peel may cause a slight burning sensation, and ablative laser treatments can leave some swelling and discomfort. ClearLift treatments are virtually painless.

Most people report no more than a slight tingling sensation, but if you’re uncomfortable at all, your provider at Dermabare can use a topical anesthetic or a cooling technique during the procedure. The goal is to keep you comfortable while improving your appearance.

No recovery necessary

There are a few things you’ll need to do after a ClearLift treatment:

  • Use sunscreen
  • Moisturize liberally
  • Apply cold compresses as needed

However, what you won’t need to do is take a few days off from work to recover. Your face might be slightly red, but you can cover it with makeup and immediately resume your normal activities.

You’ll have brighter, healthier-looking skin

The best reason to get ClearLift treatments is that you’ll have noticeably improved skin. Wrinkles will be smoothed, and your skin will look plumper and younger.

Although you may need several treatments to get optimal results, you’ll most likely be able to see a difference in just one treatment. And, you’ll continue to notice improvement in the days and weeks following treatment, as your body produces more collagen.

If you’re interested in learning more about ClearLift treatments and whether or not they could be right for you, book an appointment online or by phone at Dermabare to learn more. One of our aesthetics specialists will be happy to examine your skin and make recommendations for your specific situation.

Pixel

A highly effective fractional ablative laser skin resurfacing treatment. Pixel significantly improves overall skin tone, elasticity and texture, increases moisture content, and reduces superficial pigmentation and pore size. The multiple pixel configuration allows for deeper penetration and higher powered ablation, yielding enhanced results. The treatment mechanism of the laser promotes faster healing and tissue regeneration.
